Several important quality control points of steel structure engineering

01. Anchor bolt embedment


The embedded quality of anchor bolts directly affects the installation quality of steel structure. It is of great significance to control the position, verticality, length and elevation of anchor bolts (group) to reduce reaming and adjusting workload (even avoid rework) and improve the installation quality of structure. The embedment method of anchor bolt can be direct embedment method or reserved hole method. Before the foundation concrete pouring, the supervision engineer must strictly check the rationality and reliability of the construction method of embedded bolts, and whether the measured indexes are within the scope of the specification.


02. Welding engineering quality control


Welding engineering is one of the most important parts of steel structure production and installation engineering, supervision engineers must be engaged in the preparation, welding process and finished product inspection, and do a good job of quality control of welding engineering. Welding quality problems exist in the manual weld, these problems are: welding nodulation, slag inclusion, porosity, no penetration, edge bite, wrong edge, weld size deviation, without arc plate, welding deformation is not corrected, spatter cleaning is not clean. In view of this situation, the supervision engineer must do the following work:


(1) Check the delivery quality certificate of welding raw materials;


(2) Check the welder's working certificate;


(3) Urge to carry out necessary welding process tests;


(4) Strengthen inspection during welding and supervise the implementation of various technical measures;


(5) Strictly carry out weld quality appearance inspection and weld size measurement;


(6) Supervise nondestructive testing.


03. High strength bolt connection engineering


High strength bolt connection engineering is also one of the most important components of steel structure engineering, but also one of the weak links in the current construction quality, mainly shown in: (1) high strength bolts have shoddy phenomenon, (with ordinary refined bolts instead of high strength bolts); (2) High strength bolt connection surface treatment does not meet the requirements stipulated in the specification, including surface treatment, smooth and close paste, bolt hole quality, etc.; (3) The twisting of high-strength bolts is not carried out according to the specifications, such as the initial and final twisting at one time, without torque wrench, and subjective estimation. To ensure the construction quality of high strength bolt connection project, supervision engineer must be with high sense of responsibility, in urging contractors to improve quality consciousness, strengthening quality management, implement the quality assurance measures at the same time, actively adopt side parallel supervision and inspection work method, so that the high strength bolt connection engineering construction quality under a strict control.


04. Steel structure rust removal and coating engineering


Derusting and coating of steel structure is a work easily neglected by steel structure contractors and also a weak link in the construction of steel structure engineering. This phenomenon is not corrected, has a great impact on the construction quality of steel structure, because the quality of rust removal and coating directly affects the maintenance cost of steel structure during the future use, but also affects the service life of steel structure engineering, structural safety and fire resistance time (fire protection coating). The IDEOLOGICAL ROOT OF THIS PHENOMENON LIES IN THE LACK OF UNDERSTANDING OF THE IMPORTANCE OF PAINTING WORK, coupled WITH THE lack OF responsibility FOR QUALITY, and even MERCENARY, WHICH EVENTUALLY leads TO THE quality problems OF painting engineering. Therefore, supervision engineers must pay great attention to the rust removal and painting work, and carry out strict inspection and acceptance of each process, which is the basis and guarantee to ensure the quality of steel structure painting. As for the coating quality of steel structure engineering, the following work should be paid attention to:


(1) The rust removal quality of steel components shall be strictly checked and accepted according to the grade of design requirements;


(2) Check the factory quality certificate of coating raw materials, fire retardant coatings and fire department approval certificate;


(3) Before painting, thoroughly remove soil, oil and other sundries on the surface of components;


(4) The painting construction should be carried out in a dust-free and dry environment, and the temperature and humidity meet the specification requirements;


(5) the number of brushing times and coating thickness should meet the design requirements;


(6) the coating damage to do careful treatment, to ensure the quality of the coating;


(7) carefully check the adhesion of the coating;


(8) Strictly carry out appearance inspection and acceptance to ensure that the painting quality meets the specification and standard requirements.


05. Molding sheet metal engineering


Pressed metal plate engineering is mainly colored steel plate maintenance structure, is a relatively new form of building maintenance structure. At present, the problems in engineering practice are: construction unit not to have a color plate (sandwich board) construction scheme, color plate juncture, plate purlin connections between nodes such as processing, color plate parts fabrication and installation is fine or not reliable, the maintenance structure leakage, color plate component project visual quality is not level off, suitable straight, imprecise, deformation, scratches, contamination, etc. In view of the above situation, supervision engineers should pay attention to the following points in their work:


(1) color board (sandwich board) production before installation must urge the construction unit to develop a thorough and reliable color board engineering construction scheme, especially to develop a detailed plate scheme, architectural construction practices and quality assurance measures;


(2) In the process of production and installation, inspection, sideline supervision and parallel inspection should be strengthened to eliminate most quality problems before and during construction;


(3) Strictly carry out the inspection batch and sub-project acceptance, to ensure that the node structure is reasonable, reliable, no leakage, look and feel flat, straight, tight, uniform color, no scratch, no rust, no pollution.
